Kópavogur Puffins Cricket Club is one of Iceland’s most successful and recognisable cricket clubs. Founded in 2015, the Puffins have grown from a passionate idea into a competitive cricket family with trophies, tours, sponsors, supporters and a clear place in the story of cricket in Iceland.

Kópavogur Puffins represent Kópavogur in Icelandic domestic cricket. The club brings together players from different countries, cultures and cricket backgrounds, united by one local identity and one shared goal: to grow cricket in Iceland.

Kópavogur Puffins Cricket Club was founded in 2015 as a project to give cricket in Iceland a stronger club structure, a local identity and a team that could compete with pride.
The club was Abhishek Chauhan’s brainchild and quickly became one of the important names in Icelandic cricket. From the beginning, the Puffins were not created only to play matches. The purpose was bigger: build a team, welcome players, represent Kópavogur, promote cricket and create a strong culture around the sport.
Over the years, the Puffins have won domestic titles, developed players, toured abroad and helped keep cricket visible in Iceland. The club has played a major role in showing that cricket can grow even in a country better known for football, handball, volcanoes, glaciers and long winter nights.
Today, Kópavogur Puffins stand for competitive cricket, strong preparation and community spirit. The motto is simple: one team, one goal, together.
From the first title in 2015 to major domestic success and international tours, the club has built a proud cricket history.
Kópavogur Puffins Cricket Club was formed in 2015. The club won the Volcanic Ashes in its founding year, giving the Puffins an immediate place in Icelandic domestic cricket history.
The Puffins continued their early momentum by winning the Volcanic Ashes again and strengthening their reputation as a serious Icelandic cricket club.
Kópavogur added another Volcanic Ashes title, showing consistency and strong performances across multiple seasons.
The club achieved a special domestic season by winning the Volcanic Ashes, Íslensk Premier League and Sixty Ball Shootout. It remains one of the strongest seasons in Puffins history.
Kópavogur won the Volcanic Ashes and also added the Valhalla Cup, proving the squad could perform across different formats.
Puffins returned to the top of Icelandic T20 cricket by winning the Íslensk Premier League. The club also continued building its reputation through strong preparation and team discipline.
Kópavogur added another Valhalla Cup title, continuing the club’s presence among Iceland’s strongest domestic sides.
The Puffins added another title in the fast T10 format, showing the club’s ability to adapt and compete with intensity.

The Puffins have not only competed domestically. Club tours have helped players experience cricket abroad, build memories and represent Icelandic cricket internationally.
Past tours include Bedford in the United Kingdom and Prague in the Czech Republic. These tours gave Puffins players valuable cricket experience and helped build the club’s bond away from home.
Titles are important, but the club’s deeper purpose is to make cricket stronger in Iceland — through players, volunteers, sponsors, families and everyone who believes in the game.
